For the last five years, the Ad Blocker Dev Summit has been the go-to event for developers and innovative minds in the industry passionate about ad blocking and ad filtering. The Summit has offered a lively and productive atmosphere for diverse groups of knowledgeable individuals to learn from some of the most influential people in the game, giving them a chance to see first-hand cutting-edge advances.
Of course, as the previous name attested, the Summit was based around a more generalized idea of what developers were doing to improve content experiences for users via ad blocking. Though, as the event has developed, it has become increasingly clear to us that the heart of the Summit is about growth and adhering to principles that offer the most sustainable solutions for the online world. We’ve witnessed how user reactions to blocking ads are no longer black and white, but rather a spectrum, and the growth of ad filtering is replacing traditional all-out ad-blocking methods. And in fact, this is the direction of the future. Finding ways to enable users to have empowering and positive online experiences also means enabling other stakeholders to monetize their content. Achieving this balance is one of the biggest questions for the future of a healthy internet. The Summit will reflect this question by bringing together people from all sectors of the web ecosystem (browsers, people in the ad-filtering community and ecosystem, researchers, publishers and more).
Moreover, there is progressively more work in the industry going on in terms of content filtering (like tracking protection, etc.) and other privacy topics that go beyond standard ad blocking. The Summit has long held space for discussions on these topics and the term “ad-filtering” better reflects this aspect as well.
Thus, we updated the name slightly, but kept it as close to the original as possible to be more inclusive and indicative of what this event stands for. Along with that, we also gave the design a facelift with a new logo. However, these alterations do not alter the intent and energy of the event. The Summit has always been about community and exchange, about the spark that comes when people passionate about content filtering, specifically ad filtering and development, come together in one space for generative sessions.
That being said, we want you with us on October 5 and 6 2022 for the upcoming Ad Filtering Dev Summit in Amsterdam, Netherlands. We are excited to finally offer the event live again after the last two years with the pandemic. You can sign up today for the physical or virtual event. The important thing is to take part in whichever way works best for you. We are also excited to hear from people who are interested in contributing as a speaker or a sponsor.
Help us transform the advertising industry to be made more accountable to consumers, while meeting the developers behind some of the most successful ad-filtering apps in the world. There’s also an opportunity to pitch your ideas, so don’t miss out.
New(ish) name, new logo, but the same amazing event! We look forward to having you with us for the 2022 Ad Filtering Dev Summit.
