Last night, the German Internet industry association (Verband der Internetwirtschaft) eco hosted its annual award ceremony to honor outstanding digital solutions. We are extremely proud to share with you that our browser extension Trusted News won the award for innovation and digital business models! Trusted News is a free browser extension that categorises websites based on independent evaluations, it helps users to easily spot misinformation.

The jury emphasized the importance of Trusted News:
“Trusted News offers an innovative answer to the question: How trustworthy is information on the internet? The extension gives an indication whether a site is known for sticking to facts, politically biased, satirical or outright posting fake news. A sophisticated feedback system continuously optimizes the categorisation. Trusted News flags fake news, malware and clickbait and adds safety to browsing the internet.”

Judith Nink, Director for Policy at eyeo, received the award in the name of the whole team. She mentioned “eyeo was never just about ad blocking. Our mission is to improve the business model for digital content. This award makes us especially proud as it recognizes our efforts beyond ad blocking.”
